How to use carrier oils:
Topically – Fragrance your own massage oil. Essential oils can be added to a nut or seed carrier oil. General guidelines for the safe dilution of essential oils recommended by the Tisserand Institute per 100ml is 14 drops (0.5%), 30 drops (1%), 60 drops (2%), or 90 drops (3%). Please note some oils are irritants and should not be used on the skin.
Bath or Shower – Add your carrier oil to a bath – a teaspoon to a tablespoon along with your choice of essential oils will float on the surface and moisturise the skin as you bathe.
Perfume – Making perfumes with carrier oils and essential oils is rewarding and fun. As you learn to blend you will find endless combinations that inspire you. Use Jojoba or Fractionated coconut oil as a base to make your own natural perfume. Find a beginners perfumery book to guide you.
Make-up remover – Make up is oil soluble meaning a carrier oil will help dilute and wash it off. Use sparingly.
Storage – Keep oils out of direct sunlight and replace lid as soon as you have finished using your oil to keep it fresh for the longest amount of time.
Safety – Rotate oils so that you do not become sensitised to any particular oil. Discontinue use if you have a reaction. Those with nut allergies must be cautious when choosing carrier oils.
